Message from the Tournament Directors:
The San Jose Nisei Bowling Association invites you to participate in the 2009 Fuzzy Shimada Memorial Tournament at 4th Street Bowl in San Jose, CA. The tournament will be held on September 19th & 20th, 2009. We will be hosting Generation No-Tap Doubles, Mixed Trios, Open Team (any 5 person), and Doubles Events. The maximum entries per squad are as follows: Generation No-Tap – 39, Team – 28, Doubles -39, Mixed Trios – 26.
For the first time ever, the SJNBA in conjunction with Off the Sheet Pro Shop will be hosting bowling ball demos during the tournament. This will allow bowlers an opportunity to get advice from our local professional bowlers on the tournament shot. There will also be opportunities to throw some of the latest equipment from Hammer and other bowling ball distributors. Starting with 2009, SJNBA will be establishing a tournament average for future participants. Our goal is to provide an even playing field for all bowlers regardless of where the bowler has established their sanctioned average. The lane pattern will be displayed on the SJNBA web site and posted during the tournament. The tournament shot will be available for practice on the weekend of September 12th and 13th at 4th Street Bowl. If you are interested in participating, please email ksjeung@gmail.com. Bowlers will no longer be required to submit average verification (Rule #8).
To cut down on postal and printing expenses to the bowlers, we will be establishing an email and contacts list. We would like to ask for your assistance in obtaining this contact information from each bowler so that we may send entries and schedules via email moving forward in 2010. We will continue to provide limited paper entries to bowling establishments where leagues are hosted. Tournament entries will also be posted on the SJNBA website: http://www.sjnba.com/.
Beginning this year, the SJNBA would like to use select proceeds from our money tree raffle to benefit local non-profit organizations such as the Yu-Ai-Kai Senior Center and Nisei junior bowling programs. We will be asking local establishments/businesses for raffle donations. If you’d like to make a donation, please contact us.
We hope to see you in September!!!
Sincerely,
Karen Jeung & Brandon Hirata
Tournament Directors
